Getting Started

What is Orbit Drive?

Orbit Drive is a neon arcade game about switching between inner and outer lanes, dodging hazards, collecting sparks, diving for cores, and advancing to the next orbit when you are ready.

Which devices are supported?

Orbit Drive runs on iPhone and iPad and requires iOS 17.0 or later. Touch and compatible gamepads are both fully supported.

Does Orbit Drive require an internet connection?

No. Normal gameplay works offline with progress saved on your device. An internet connection is needed for App Store downloads, restoring purchases, and buying the Character Pass.

Is the game free?

Yes. Orbit Drive is free to download and play. Optional extras include spark-based character unlocks in the Store and a Character Pass in-app purchase that unlocks all characters.

Does Orbit Drive support controllers?

Yes. Touch and controller play are both fully supported.

On a PlayStation-style pad: switches lanes, / Circle dives for the core, activates a shield, and L1 stays on the current orbit when an advance prompt is up. Options pauses.

Is there a macOS version?

Not yet. Orbit Drive ships for iOS first. A macOS version is on the longer-term roadmap, with no release date announced.

Gameplay

How do I switch lanes?

Tap anywhere on the playfield to toggle between the inner and outer lanes. On a controller, press / Cross (or A on Xbox), or flick the D-pad / left stick left or right.

How do I jump to the next orbit?

You cannot change orbits at any time. First collect enough cores on the current orbit. When the center advance prompt appears, tap the center of the screen to jump ahead. On a controller, press / Circle or confirm with .

To stay on the current orbit instead, tap outside the center, or press L1.

What are sparks?

Sparks are the yellow collectibles you pick up during a run. Sparks from the current orbit are only banked when you successfully advance to the next orbit. Banked sparks can be spent in the Store on shields and character unlocks.

What do shields do?

An active shield blocks one solid hazard hit, then breaks. Without an active shield, that hit ends the attempt.

Activate a shield from the on-screen Shield control, or press / Triangle on a controller. Pickups and Store purchases add shields to your inventory (up to five). Try Again keeps your owned shields.

What are cores?

Cores are the key to leaving an orbit. When the core lights up with a + prompt, move to the inner lane and tap the center of the screen to dive in. On a controller, press / Circle.

Each successful dive fills your core meter. Fill it to unlock the advance prompt and choose whether to jump to the next orbit or stay.

What happens when I use Try Again?

Try Again restarts the current orbit from its beginning. Your score and jump streak for that attempt reset, unbanked sparks from the failed attempt are cleared, and core progress on that orbit starts over. Sparks you already banked, owned shields, and earlier orbit progress stay.

Are sparks from a failed orbit run saved?

No. Sparks collected during an unsuccessful attempt at the current orbit are discarded. Sparks banked before you entered that orbit remain safe.

What increases my score?

Score rises while you survive, and jumps when you collect sparks, clear barriers, burst spikes, enter God Mode, or eat hazards during God Mode. Combo and temporary multipliers can boost those pickups.

Can I reset my progress?

Yes. Open Pause → Settings → Progress → Manage saves & resets. You can reset run stats, reset progression (sparks, shields, spark-unlocked characters, and related progress), or factory-reset local data.

App Store purchases such as Character Pass can be restored afterward. Avoid deleting the app unless you intend to wipe local progress.

Purchases

What can I purchase?

In the app Store you can spend banked sparks on shields and individual character unlocks. The only App Store in-app purchase is Character Pass, which unlocks all current and future playable characters.

The soundtrack is sold separately on this website and does not unlock in-game content.

Are purchases required to finish or enjoy the game?

No. Orbit Drive is free to download and play. Character Pass and spark unlocks are optional.

How do I restore purchases?

Open the in-game Store and choose Restore Purchases while signed into the same Apple ID used for the original purchase. Restore recovers Character Pass. Spark balances and spark-unlocked characters are local progress, not App Store purchases.

I bought Character Pass but it is not showing up. What should I do?

Use Restore Purchases in the Store, confirm you are signed into the correct Apple ID, then restart the app. If it still does not appear, contact support with your device model, iOS version, and approximate purchase time.

Are App Store purchases refundable?

Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple according to Apple’s policies.

Does buying the soundtrack unlock anything in the game?

No. The soundtrack is a separate digital music purchase and does not unlock in-game content.

Soundtrack

Where can I buy the soundtrack?

Visit the soundtrack page for the track list, previews, and purchase link when checkout is live.

What format is included?

The album is a high-quality digital download of all 20 tracks plus cover artwork. Exact file formats are listed at checkout when the package is finalized.

Can I stream the soundtrack?

Not yet as a separate streaming release. Buying the download does not automatically add the album to Apple Music, Spotify, or similar services.

Is the soundtrack purchase handled by Apple?

No. Website soundtrack purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy as the merchant of record. In-app purchases such as Character Pass remain handled by Apple.

Can I use the music in my own video or project?

Purchasing the soundtrack is for personal listening. It does not grant synchronization, commercial, redistribution, or game-use rights unless a separate license says otherwise.

Privacy

Does Orbit Drive require an account?

No. You can play without creating an Orbit Drive account.

What information does the game collect?

Gameplay progress, unlocks, and settings are stored on your device. The app does not require an account and does not send personally identifiable gameplay data to MX Labs. App Store purchases are processed by Apple. See the Privacy Policy for the full legal detail.

Troubleshooting

The game has no sound

Check the device mute switch and volume, then open Pause → Audio and confirm All audio, Music, and Sound effects are on. If you use Bluetooth headphones, reconnect them and reopen the app.

My controller is not responding

Confirm the controller is charged and paired in iOS Settings → Bluetooth, then reopen Orbit Drive. Disconnect other controllers if needed. Lane switch is , core dive is / Circle, shield is , and Options pauses.

The game appears frozen or paused

Look for the pause overlay or full pause menu, then resume from there. Control Center or an interrupted audio route can also interrupt play—dismiss overlays and return to the game before force-quitting.

My local progress is missing

Progress is stored on your device. Reinstalling the app, using Factory Reset, or clearing the app’s data removes it. If you only lost Character Pass, use Restore Purchases instead—do not reinstall to fix an App Store purchase.

My Character Pass purchase is missing

Open the Store and tap Restore Purchases while signed into the same Apple ID. Restart the app afterward. If it still does not appear, contact support with your device, iOS version, and purchase timing.

The app closes unexpectedly

Update Orbit Drive and iOS if updates are available, free some storage, and try again. If it keeps happening, send a bug report with device model, iOS version, game version, and steps to reproduce.

How do I report a reproducible bug?

Use the bug report checklist below and email support with as much detail as you can.
